Freedom in Truth
Fit Counseling was established out of a passion for supporting individuals and families as they strive to be healthy and well. Fit stands for freedom in truth and represents a primary piece of what it takes to be healthy and to have healthy relationships. Oftentimes our ability to be healthy physically, emotionally, relationally, and spiritually is hampered by unseen internal struggles, struggles that we have all felt at times. Fit Counseling will support you by providing insight and encouragement as you take steps towards freedom and wellness.

BRENT DOUGLAS, MA, LMHC
My journey into professional counseling began with a genuine care for people and a desire to understand how we function. During my undergraduate studies in psychology and the Bible, I recognized common themes of hurt, struggle, and brokenness; however, I was ultimately motivated by stronger themes of hope, restoration, and healing. This inspires my approach to therapy, where I help individuals, couples, and families identify areas for healing and provide supportive guidance for growth.
To further pursue this passion, I completed my Master’s in Professional Counseling. Licensed as a mental health counselor since 2010, I have worked with people from all walks of life across Central Iowa. My experience spans a variety of settings, including clinical offices, schools, homes, and local churches. I specialize in walking alongside clients as they face everyday challenges and deep hurts, including anxiety, depression, relational conflict, trauma, abuse, and spiritual or personal struggles.
Outside of the office, I am grounded by my role as a husband and father, and I remain actively involved in my local church community. In my free time, I love disconnecting by enjoying God’s creation with a hike through the woods, or planning unique vacations with my family and friends.
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
Freedom and relief from emotional struggles is possible. Anxiety, depression, and other internal conflicts are very real and more common than most people realize. You do not have to be alone in the struggle. We will come alongside you as you move towards a healthy and satisfying life.

RELATIONSHIP COUNSELING
You may be looking towards the possibility of marriage or may have been married for years. You may be struggling with parenting, extended family, friends or any number of other relationships. Healthy connections and communication are essential for personal wellness. Fit Counseling can help.
OUR APPROACH
Fit Counseling is built on a Christian foundation of truth. If you have questions about what it means to be spiritually healthy, we would be happy to support you in that journey. The Bible, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and other techniques we use place a strong focus on victory, health, and freedom that come from replacing unhealthy or unrealistic thinking with truth.
